Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is EMDR?
A: EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. This is a multisensory therapy method that incorporates movement, strengths, and coping skills by engaging the nervous system.
Q: How will I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
A: You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation on the phone, in person, or over telehealth; once you begin therapy, the decision to continue is always your choice.
Q: Do you work in person or over telehealth?
A: I see my clients in person most of the time, but I am able to be flexible for some clients who have difficulty accessing my office in person.
Q: Where is your office?
A: I’m located in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, just west of the University District!
Q: Isn’t telehealth less stressful than in-person?
A: Telehealth is usually more convenient than in-person therapy, and it may be right for you. I have a limited number of telehealth slots, but I run a primarily in-person therapy practice. For most people I work with (although not all!), the person-to-person connection is especially healing and conducive to growth.
Q: How does therapy work?
A: Therapy works primarily by giving you a sense of being seen for you who are. Likewise, if you are working with me as a couple, we will create space for each of you to be seen by the other partner while becoming more settled in yourself. If you are a teen or young adult, therapy helps you see yourself, accept yourself, and decide how you want to bring your strengths into the world. If you are a kiddo, therapy helps you gain control over your nervous system so that you can have a calmer body and mind.
Q: What happens in the first few sessions?
A: In my practice, I will spend the first three sessions getting to know you as an individual, couple, or family by listening to your stories, asking you questions, and getting a sense of how you communicate. We will discuss your goals, and by the third session, we will have a flexible plan in place for our work together.
Q: How long do appointments last, and how often do we meet?
A: Generally, sessions are 50 minutes although some individuals, couples, or families benefit from longer sessions. (Think of it this way—the more people, the more time needed for everyone’s voice to be heard.) Most people attend therapy once per week, but we can assess what frequency works best for you as we go along and adjust our schedule as needed.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: I charge $150 per 50-minute session. Longer sessions are prorated. If you are a patient of Dr. Seroussi , your care contract is under the purview of Seattle Spine & Sports Medicine.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not accept insurance but can provide you with a superbill if you are able to access out-of-network benefits.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, which means the full session is due in the event of no-shows and last minute cancellations. In the event that you are sick, you are welcome to reschedule or switch to telehealth by arrangement.
